Having purchased the pub with her husband John, Margaret gave up her comfortable Office/Facilities Manager role to get The Kitchen up and running and with the help of a previous Pub Chef Margaret opened The Kitchen in September 2016. She had previously owned a Guest House/Cafe and was renowned for her 'Special Breakfast'. She annually travels to Australia and spends lots of her time researching their local cuisine. This is where the Butter Chicken Curry, which is on the Menu, came from. She has also been known to arrive home with a whole suitcase full of Australian cooking equipment and recipe ideas.
Our chef Dan is a real believer in a village community likes to support it however he can. He has valuable experience in the catering and food industry. After working 5 years as a butcher and fishmonger in Oxford and a 6 month period of working as a Mixologist at Heythrop Park Resort, he decided to train as a chef and completed his Level 2 Professional Chefs Diploma at Banbury College. He also has training in Level 2 food hygiene and allergen training. He now brings all of the ideas and creations that he has discovered over time to the kitchen.
Laura can often be seen helping Dan and Margaret in the kitchen. She has an exceptional eye for presentation and is known to tell Dan off if something is put in the wrong place. She has had 15 years experience in the pub trade, starting in the kitchen and moving on to become a bar manager including training in cellar management, food hygiene level........ and also spent 6 months working at Juliana's (now known as Cafe7) Paradise Point on the Gold Coast in Australia.
